JMU Grabs First-Round Lead at Cavalier Classic

1st Round Player Results

Charlottesville, VA – The James Madison men’s golf team took the early lead at today’s Cavalier Classic being held at the Birdwood Golf Course in Charlottesville. The second round is currently being played and updated results will be available at VirginiaSports.com this evening.

JMU shot 1-under 287 during Saturday’s morning round. Scott Marino led the Dukes with a 2-under 70. North Carolina State’s Garry Hill, playing as a non-scoring individual, took the early lead at 4-under 68.

Virginia is playing an Orange and Blue team during the event. The Orange squad finished the first round in third place at 296, one shot behind second-place Maryland. The Blue team is in eighth place.

Carter Henderson led the Orange team with a 1-uner 71 that has him in a tie for third place. Brad Tilley is in sixth place at 72.

The tournament concludes Sunday with 18 holes of play that are scheduled to being at 8:30 a.m.
