Lindsay Hayward Plans to Transfer

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia women’s basketball player Lindsay Hayward (Rocklin, Calif.) has requested and been granted a release from the university, head coach Debbie Ryan announced on Monday.

“I will not be returning to the University of Virginia due to personal and family issues,” Hayward said. “I will continue my studies and basketball career at home in California. I want to thank the UVa coaching and academic staffs for their patience and support. The University of Virginia is a very prestigious and unique school, and I was honored to represent such an honorable institution.”

“We will miss Lindsay but understand her need to go home,” Ryan said. “We wish her the best in all her future endeavors.”

A freshman on the 2005-06 team, the 6-9 center did not see any action with the Cavaliers last season.
