The Virginia volleyball team concludes the home portion of its schedule with matches on Thursday (Nov. 16) and Friday (Nov. 17) at Memorial Gym. The Cavaliers host ACC front-runner Duke on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and wrap the home portion of their schedule with “Senior Night” on Friday at 7:00 p.m. against Wake Forest. UVa will honor fourth-years Emily Kirkwood (Tampa, Fla./Plant), Lindsay Osco (Houston, Texas/Elkins) and Emily Perilli (Thompson’s Station, Tenn./Page) before Friday’s match against Wake Forest. Admission is free of charge.

Virginia enters the weekend with a 21-6 overall record and a 14-4 mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference. UVa has won a school record eight consecutive ACC matches and is coming off a 3-1 (26-30, 30-24, 30-20, 30-26) win at Miami (Nov. 11). The Cavaliers are in second place in the ACC standings, three games behind Duke, and two games ahead of third place Clemson.
Duke is having a tremendous season at 24-3 overall and 17-1 in the ACC. The Blue Devils’ only conference loss is a 3-2 setback at Georgia Tech (Oct. 27). Duke has won its last six matches, including a 3-0 (30-26, 30-19, 30-11) win at Boston College on Nov. 12. The Blue Devils won the initial meeting with UVa this season 3-1 (30-22, 30-25, 24-30, 30-22) in Durham on Oct. 6. Duke leads the all-time series against Virginia 33-13. The two teams split a pair of meetings last season with both teams winning by 3-1 scores on their home floors. Duke won 23 of the first 26 meetings in the series, but since the 1998 season the series is tied at 10-10.
Wake Forest enters weekend play with a 14-13 overall record and a 10-8 mark in ACC play. The Demon Deacons have lost six of their last nine contests, but posted a 3-1 (30-20, 30-25, 30-32, 30-27) win over Maryland (Nov. 12) in their last action. In the first meeting of the season between the two teams, Wake came away with a 3-0 (30-18, 30-27, 30-23) win in Winston-Salem on Oct. 7, snapping the Cavaliers’ four-match winning streak in the series. The series between UVa and Wake is knotted at 15-15.
