The Series vs. Boston College
Virginia holds a 4-0 lead in the series with Boston College. The meeting last season (a 72-58 UVa win over then 11th-ranked BC) at University Hall, marked the first time the two teams played since the 1982-83 season. The Cavaliers won that game 95-92 (Mar. 24) in the third round of the 1983 NCAA Tournament in Ogden, Utah. BC was ranked 11th in the AP poll at the time.

The first meeting between the two teams occurred in the 1970-71 season with UVa winning 79-69 (Dec. 11) in Morgantown, W.Va. In the second meeting in the series, Virginia posted a 57-55 win at University Hall in the second round of the 1980 NIT on Mar. 10 (UVa went on the win the NIT championship).

Playing in the Commonwealth
Virginia is playing only its second game in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts – and the first true “away” game.

UVa’s first game in Massachusetts was on Nov. 21, 1981 when the Cavaliers played BYU in the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic at the Springfield Civic Center in Springfield, Mass. Virginia won the game 63-61 before a sellout crowd of 8,808.

Virginia vs. The Commonwealth
Despite the fact that the Cavaliers play teams from Massachusetts infrequently, Virginia has had great success as it is 7-0 all-time against teams from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. UVa is 4-0 all-time vs. Boston College, 2-0 vs. Massachusetts, and 1-0 vs. Northeastern.

Tat Back
After missing 10 consecutive games with a groin injury, Solomon Tat returned to game action against Gonzaga (Jan. 3). He entered the contest at the 5:49 mark of the first half. Tat played eight minutes and had a career-high five assists (four in the first half) and two points.

He has appeared in UVa’s last three games and is averaging 2.8 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game for the season.

Tat played 12 minutes in the season-opener vs. Arizona (Nov. 12) and had three points and two rebounds.
