The Virginia men’s and women’s track and field programs will both have an entry in the 2007 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend (March 9 -10) as All-American Tomika Ferguson and the men’s distance medley relay were both selected for participation by the national committee. The men’s DMR will compete on Friday night while Ferguson will jump on Saturday night.
Ferguson set the school record with a leap of 13.53m (44′ 4.75″) at the Virginia Tech Last Chance meet on March 3. She is currently ranked second in the nation. The triple jump competition is slated for 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 10.
The men’s DMR set the school record on Friday, March 2 at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind. Alex Tatu, Brian Lee, Jordan Orr and Kevin McHale ran a 9:35.16 and that time is the seventh-best in the nation in 2007. The men’s distance medley competition is slated for 9:35 p.m. on Friday, March 9 at the Randal Tyson Center at the University of Arkansas.
