THIS WEEK
Virginia continues play in the 2007 Women’s National Invitation Tournament in third round action on Thursday, March 22 against South Florida. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. at John Paul Jones Arena. Charlottesville’s WINA (1070 AM) will broadcast the game live on the radio and on the Internet.

SCOUTING SOUTH FLORIDA
The Bulls, under the guidance of seventh-year head coach Jose Fernandez, stand 21-11 overall after a 66-49 win over Coppin State in the WNIT second round on March 19. Senior forward Jessica Dickson leads USF with 19.8 ppg. Sophomore guard Shantia Grace follows with 14.3 ppg, while senior center Nalini Miller adds 9.7 ppg and a team-best 7.9 rpg.

SERIES VS. BULLS
Virginia and South Florida have never met in women’s basketball action.

COMMON OPPONENTS
Virginia and South Florida have played three common opponents- all from the Big East Conference. USF recorded a 2-3 record against No. 3 Connecticut, No. 19 Marquette, and Seton Hall, while the `Hoos went 2-1 against the same teams.

WNIT SECOND ROUND RECAP
With just four seconds on the clock, sophomore Lyndra Littles (Washington, D.C.) received an inbounds pass and converted a pull-up jumper to give the Virginia women’s basketball team a 74-72 win over Charlotte in the Women’s NIT Second Round on March 19 at John Paul Jones Arena.

The victory was also the 650th win in head coach Debbie Ryan’s 30-year career at UVa.

Freshman Monica Wright (Woodbridge, Va.) paced UVa with 20 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double. Littles followed with 16 points, while senior Siedah Williams (Cleveland, Ohio) and senior Brenna McGuire (Winchester, Mass.) added 11 points each. Junior Sharneé Zoll (Marlboro, N.J.) dished out a game-high 10 assists, marking the sixth time this season (10th in her career) that she’s netted double-digit assists. Overall, Virginia out-rebounded Charlotte, 38-35.

IN THE STATISTICS
After 32 contests, sophomore Lyndra Littles leads the Cavaliers with 16.9 points and 8.8 rebounds per game while shooting a team-best 48.5 percent from the field. Freshman Monica Wright follows with 15.4 ppg and a team-best 77 steals. Junior Sharneé Zoll adds 9.7 ppg and a team-best 196 assists.
