Charlottesville, VA – The next stop on the Virginia women’s golf team’s spring schedule is in Athens, Ga., this week for Georgia’s Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. A total of 10 top-25 teams and four more in the top-30 and 18 individuals ranked among the nation¹s top 50 golfers will be competing at the UGA Golf Course.
Georgia’s third-ranked squad headlines the team field. Florida State’s Caroline Westrup, the defending medalist from last year’s Liz Murphey, is the highest-ranked individual at No. 2 in the latest Golfweek rankings.
Other top-30 teams in the 18-team field include No. 4 Auburn, No. 11 Florida, No. 15 Purdue, No. 16 Wake Forest, No. 19 Virginia, No. 22 Michigan State, No. 23 Florida State, No. 25 LSU, No. 26 Arkansas, No. 27 Kent State, No. 29 Alabama and No. 30 South Carolina. In addition, Georgia State and Augusta State are competing in the Liz Murphey for the first time ever.
Virginia’s lineup will include Leah Wigger, Jennie Arseneault, Rachel Smith, Carly Truitt and Whitney Neuhauser.
Play begins at 9 a.m. on Friday through Sunday. Live scoring for the event will be available at Golfstat.com.
Virginia’s B-team will compete at the William & Mary Invitational March 24-25 at Ford’s Colony, on the Marsh Hawk course.
The field for that event also includes: Winthrop, Columbia, Bucknell, Monmouth, Methodist, Penn State, Western Michigan, Boston College, Pennsylvania, Appalachian State, Towson, Marshall, Old Dominion, Xavier, Radford, Cleveland State
