CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia head volleyball coach Melissa Aldrich Shelton has announced the promotion of Matt Ginipro to associate head coach. Ginipro had served as an assistant coach for the UVa volleyball program since May of 2001.
“Matt’s promotion is a product of his hard work and dedication to our team,” said Shelton. “I know that our players would agree with me that Matt is very deserving of this title as he has been instrumental in our success as a program with his work on the recruiting front as well as in the gym.”
Ginipro has helped lead Virginia to 105-82 record for .561 winning percentage during his first six seasons with the Cavaliers. Over the past four years, UVa has posted an impressive 87-39 mark for a .690 winning percentage, including three 20-win seasons. The Cavaliers have gone 31-13 (.705) in Atlantic Coast Conference play the past two seasons and set a school record with 16 conference wins in 2006.
