Charlottesville, VA – The 19th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team returns to action this weekend at the 10th annual Bryan National Collegiate. The 54-hole tournament will take place over three days beginning on Friday and will be played on the par-72, 6,386 yard Bryan Park Champions Course just outside of Greensboro, N.C. The 18-team field features some of the strongest programs in the country.
Joining the Cavaliers are 11 other teams ranked in the current Golfweek top-30 including No. 2 Duke, No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 Auburn, No. 12 Florida, No. 13 Tennessee, No. 15 Purdue, No. 16 Wake Forest, No. 20 North Carolina, No. 22 Florida State, No. 25 LSU and No. 27 South Carolina.
The Virginia line-up will include Leah Wigger, Jennie Arseneault, Whitney Neuhauser, Rachel Smith and Sally Shonk. Kristen Simpson will compete as a non-scoring individual. Last year the Cavaliers finished 12 in the 17-team field with Leah Wigger placing eighth overall. Wigger is ranked 15th in this week’s Golfweek standings after winning the Liz Murphey Collegiate two weeks ago at Georgia.
Due to cold weather conditions, a shotgun start of 11 a.m. will be used for each of the three days of tournament play. Live scoring for the event will be available at both Golfstat.com.
