NORFOLK, Va. – Two University of Virginia women’s basketball players have earned 2007 All-State honors from the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID), VaSID announced on Thursday.
Sophomore Lyndra Littles (Washington, D.C.) has been named to the first team. The 6-1 forward earned Second Team All-ACC honors. Littles led the Cavaliers in scoring (17.3 ppg) and rebounding (8.8 rpg).
Freshman Monica Wright (Woodbridge, Va.) was the unanimous selection for VaSID Rookie of the Year. She also earned second team all-state recognition. Also the unanimous selection as the ACC Rookie of the Year, Wright became the most decorated freshman in Cavalier history by earning ACC Rookie of the Week eight times this season. She started every game while finishing second in team scoring (15.1 ppg) and rebounding (6.0 rpg). She also led UVa in steals with 79 and finished second in assists with 76.
The 2006-07 VaSID University Women’s Basketball team was nominated by and voted upon by sports information directors at colleges and universities throughout the Commonwealth.
