Virginia Moves Up to No. 5 in Coaches Poll

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s varsity eight crew moved up eight spots to No. 5 nationally in this week’s poll, the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association announced on Wednesday.

Southern Cal, which also earned 19 of the 24 first-place votes, jumped up one spot to No. 1. Brown, which earned the remaining five first-place votes, dropped one spot to No. 2. Ohio State, Yale, Virginia, Notre Dame, Princeton, Minnesota, Central Florida, Tennessee and Washington rounded out the Top 10.

The No. 5 and seven-time defending ACC champion Cavaliers defend their title on Saturday, April 21 at the 2007 ACC Women’s Rowing Championships in Clemson, S.C.
