Team Scores– The Florida State men and the Virginia Tech women are your 2007 Outdoor ACC Champions! Thanks for reading.
4X400 m relay Men– Heat 2 of 2: Brown of Clemson takes the lead and he is powering down the backstretch, it’s Brown and Clemson in 3:09.89, followed by Wake Forest in 3:11.20 and then FSU in 3:12.32.
– With a lap to go it’s Wake Forest in 2:23 followed by Clemson and then UNC and FSU.
– Through two legs it’s Clemson leading at 1:35, followed by Wake Forest and UNC, followed by FSU.
– Your final heat of the day. Clemson appears to be leading after leg one. Followed by Wake Forest and Georgia Tech.
4X400 m relay Men– Heat 1 of 2: Maryland is going to win in 3:10.39! Duke second in 3:14.83, NC State third in 3:16.39.
– Maryland with the lead going into the final leg, 2:23 with a lap to go followed by NC State and Duke.
– It’s NC State with the lead followed by Maryland, Maryland takes the lead with NC State, followed by Duke. Maryland and NC State, Maryland through two legs at 1:34.
4X400 m relay Women– Heat 2 of 2: Williams of FSU in first, Miami in second with Simkins, Miami now has the lead, Williams makes a move on the backstretch and it’s FSU winning in 3:32.11! Third fastest time in the country! Miami in second in 3:32.67. Virginia Tech in third in 3:36.05, Wake Forest gets fourth in 3:41.97. Virginia fifth in 3:43.63.
– Batchelor of the Seminoles is your leader with Miami in second, Virginia Tech in third. FSU with the lead at the bell 2:40!
– FSU is your leader with Miami in second, Etienne of Miami takes the lead on the far turn, Miami at 1:46 through two legs followed by FSU, Virginia Tech in third.
– It’s Virginia and FSU leading after one leg of this heat of the 4X400.
4X400 m relay Women– Heat 1 of 2: Kidd gets Kloss with 150 to go, Kidd powering down the backstretch, Georgia Tech wins in 3:41.97, UNC second in 3:43.50, Maryland in third in 3:47.30.
– UNC still with the lead, Kidd on anchor for the Yellow Jackets, UNC has a lead, Kloss on anchor for the Tar Heels, 2:47 with a lap to go.
– It’s UNC leading this heat, followed by Georgia Tech and Maryland. UNC comes through halfway in 1:51.
5,000 m Men– Foerster is your winner in 14:07.16! Clark in second in 14:12.12, Vegh in third in 14:16.75, Dumm fourth in 14:17.73. Fifth goes to Furst in 14:25.17, Foster in sixth in 14:26.05. Iverson in seventh in 14:29.54 and Coombs of NC State in eighth in 14:32.79.
– With a lap to go it’s Foerster at 13:04 with Clark a few seconds back, Vegh moves by Dumm for third, Foerster kicking with all he’s got, Clark making a move late but Foerster has at least 15 meters on him, Dumm trying to close on Vegh, Burris in fourth, Foster making a big kick. Foerster all the way down the backstretch he is going to win, Clark in second.- 2 laps to go it’s Clark and Foerster, 11:59 with two laps to go followed by Dumm and Vegh, Foerster still leading. Clark is trying to stay on him, Clark has a big kick. Dumm is in third with Vegh.
– Foerster leading Clark, he’s waiting for that kick, Burris is now 10 meters back, Dumm is closing on him with Vegh.- Foerster and Clark 1-2, Burris in third, Dumm in fourth, Vegh in fifth, Furst in sixth, Foster in seventh.- With three laps to go at 10:49 it’s Foerster, Clark and Burris your top three, Dumm is five meters back followed by Vegh, Foster and then Furst. Bryce Iverson of Clemson is behind Furst.
– With a mile to go it’s Foerster, Burris, Clark, Dumm and then Foster followed by Vegh and Furst. Foerster comes through at 9:40 with one mile to go.- Foerster passes Burris to retake the lead, Clark right behind them followed by Dumm, Foster, Furst and Vegh. Small separation to Crews. Leaders at 8:31 with five laps to go.
– Burris is your new leader with six laps to go he is at 7:22 followed by Foerster and then Clark, Dumm and Foster behind him, Furst, Vegh, Crews and Coombs are right on their tail.
– Foerster now your leader, Burris from FSU is with him followed by Clark and Dumm, Furst, Foster, Vegh, Crews and Coombs of NC State.
– Tschirhart still leading, with 7 laps to go he is at 6:11, he pulls off. Followed by Foerster and Dumm, Clark passes Dumm to move into third, Burris in fifth, Furst in sixth followe by Foster, Tibor Vegh behind him followed by John Crews of NC State.
– Tschirhart still your leader through the mile in 4:29, Foerster directly behind him followed by Dumm and Clark with Furst in fifth, Burris on his shoulder followed by Foster of Virginia.
– 3:22 through 1200 meters for your leader Tschirhart, Foerster in second, Dumm in third for the Cavaliers. Furst in fourth, Clark in fifth, Burris from FSU and then a host of NC State runners.
– It’still Tschirhart and Foerster leading at 2:15 through 800 meters. Furst of NC State is in third, Dumm of Virginia making a move to the front with Clark of Clemson and Gabart of FSU.
– The men’s 5,000 is underway, Kevin Tschirhart of Virginia is your leader, followed by Jan Foerster of Virginia. At 400, 67 seconds for Tschirhart.
5,000 m Women– Sikes just pouring it on! She wins in 16:17.14, McKeever of Duke second in 16:26.84, Scanlin of Virginia third in 16:33.36, Wort fourth in 16:40.21, fifth goes to Parker of FSU in 16:43.81.
– Sikes with a lap to go, 15:00! McKeever and Scanlin fighting for second at 15:14, Wort in fourth, Huss trying to catch her, Parker in sixth, Read in seventh.
– Sikes with two laps to go is just rolling, she is at 13:43 with two laps to go, McKeever of Duke in second, Scanlin in third at 13:57, Wort in fourth, Huss in fifth, Read in sixth, Parker in seventh.
– Sikes with 1200 to go is at 12:28. She is cruising, McKeever and Scanlin at 12:39, Wort right off of them. Parker, Huss and Read still fighting for fourth.
– Sikes has a 30 meter lead. McKeever and Scanlin trail with Wort falling back, Parker and Huss with Read and Roth are about 25 meters back from the chase pack.
– It’s Sikes with a 10 meter lead, Wort, Maddie McKeever of Duke, and Scanlin of Virginia, followed by Parker, Read of Virginia and Roth in the second pack. Sikes with a mile to go at 11:13, chase pack at 11:21.
– Sikes makes a big move on the outside to take the lead. She puts some distance on the pack, Liz Wort from Duke going with her, Sikes at 10:00 with 5 laps to go.
– Sikes makes a move to get up front, Scanlin follows her, Roth still is your leader. Parker makes a move to the front she is right on Roth’s shoulder. Lead pack is at 8:44 with six laps to go.
– Your leader is still Roth with Huss right on her, Parker and Crate also in the mix for FSU with Sikes and Scanlin of Virginia. 7:23 with seven laps to go.
– Roth still leads with Huss on her shoulder. Parker follows them with Sikes patiently waiting in sixth. Read, Scanlin and Harrison of Virginia are shadowing the FSU pack. Roth is at 6:02 with two miles left.
– It’s Roth, Huss of FSU, Parker, and Sikes. Harrison and Scanlin of Virginia are just off the lead pack. 4:42 with 9 laps to go for Roth.
– Roth of NC State takes the lead and picks up the pace. Roth is followed by Sikes and five FSU runners. 3:23 with 10 laps to go.
– FSU has four girls up front with Sikes and Emily Harrison of Virginia. Parker still leading through 800 meters at 2:45.
– Michelle Sikes of Wake Forest, your 10K Champion is your leader with Barbara Parker of FSU, your steeplechase champion. 81 seconds for the first 400 meters.
200 m final Men– 20.19! Walter Dix of FSU sets a new ACC record! Charles Clark of FSU second in 20.57, Padgett of Clemson third in 21.04 and Wright of FSU fourth in 21.26.
200 m final Women– Simkins of Miami wins in 23.08, sixth best time in the country! Kidd of Georgia Tech second in 23.20. Potts of Virginia Tech third in 23.25, and Spruill of Virginia Tech fourth in 23.46.
400 m hurdles Men– Hutton of NC State is your winner in 50.44! Berry of UNC second in 51.22 and Wood of FSU third in 51.44. Durham of Maryland fourth in 51.48.
400 m hurdles Women– Green of Virginia Tech is your winner in 56.66! #1 time in the country. Queen Harrison of Virginia Tech is second in 56.80 and Crawford of Virginia is third in 57.48, Smith of Virginia fourth in 60.02.
800 m final Men– Hoye tries to pass on outside, Harris makes a surge, Berlin in second now, it’s Berlin and Harris with Jesensky in third. Harris powering down the backstretch, he wins in 1:49.29, Berlin is second in 1:49.51, Jesensky of FSU is third in 1:49.81. Krumins of FSU fourth, 1:50.00. McHale of Virginia seventh in 1:53.77.
– Harris of Miami out early, Hoye of Ga Tech is second, Berlin of Virginia Tech is third. Harris through 400 meters in 53.86, Hoye in second, Berlin in third.
800 m final Women– Felnagle in second coming back, making up ground, Kloss in third, Bailey of BC in fourth. Felnagle catches Washington, Kloss in third now, Bailey in third now, Felnagle is your winner in 2:04.93! Bailey in 2:07.75, Kloss in 2:07.87, Seibert of Duke in 2:09.17 is your fourth place finisher.
– Washington through 400 meters in 58.77 for her first lap! It’s Washington of Virginia Tech with the lead, taking it out fast, Leufroy of Miami in second, Felnagle in third, Bailey of BC.
100 m final Men– Padgett of Clemson wins in 10.22, tying the ACC record! Bolden of FSU second in 10.30, Spiller of Clemson third in 10.53, and Reese of NC State fourth in 10.54. Ford of Clemson false-started. He definitely would have finished in the top three.
100 m final Women– Potts of Virginia Tech in 11.40 is your winner! Simkins of Miami is second in 11.60, Spruill of Virginia Tech is third in 11.62 and Williams is fourth in 11.69.
400 m final Men– Chambers of FSU has already made up the stagger and then some, he is way out in front, he is powering down the turn, Chambers is your winner in 46.00, Lowe of Maryland is second in 47.14, Buchanan of FSU in 47.38, Blassingame in fourth in 47.59.
400 m final Women– Kidd and Etienne are going at it, neck and neck through 200 meters, Etienne with a slight lead, Kidd with late life, she powers down the backstretch to win in 52.13, Etienne in second in 52.75, Williams of FSU third in 53.33, Massiah of FSU in 54.07.
110 m hurdles final Men– Berger of Maryland is your winner in 13.54! New #1 time in the country, Brunson from FSU second in 13.63 and Garcia Tunon of FSU is third in 13.88.
100 m hurdles final Women– Castlin from Virginia Tech wins in 12.82! New ACC Record, fastest time in the country. Moss from Ga Tech is second in 12.83, so close, Fofanah third in 13.16. Harrison of Virginia Tech fourth.
1500 m final Men– Lancashire wins in 3:44.08!, McHale in second in 3:47.33, Kollar third in 3:47.90, Tschirhart from Virginia in fourth in 3:49.20, Gibbs of Ga Tech fifth in 3:49.31.
-Lancashire with a 30 meter lead, he is going for the ACC record, McHale in second, Kollar in third, Mellea in fourth.
-Lancashire with a 20 meter lead, McHale in second, Mellea in third, Kollar of NC State in fourth. Lancashire at 2:44 with a lap to go.
-Lancashire opening it up, Mellea is 10 meters back followed by Tschirhart and McHale with Zagorski of BC fifth. 1:44 with two laps to go for Lancashire. 1:59 at 800 meters.
-Lancashire of FSU is your leader at the gun. He is followed by the three Cavaliers. Lancashire appears to be taking it out fast. First 400 in 59 seconds.
1500 m final Women– Felnagle of UNC wins in 4:22.88, Fanning of Virginia Tech in second in 4:24.90, Van BusKirk third in 4:25.78, Hess fourth in 4:28.11. Felnagle has opened up, she is looking strong with 200 meters to go. Fanning is still in second, Van BusKirk of Duke in third, Hess in fourth. Felnagle puts on a big surge, Fanning is trying to stay with her with Hess in third. With one lap to go it’s Fanning, Felnagle takes the lead, she is at the bell in 3:20. Fanning takes the lead with Hess on her with 500 meters to go. Kieffer of Wake is your leader, Fanning on the outside. With 800 meters to go its Felnagle of UNC, Fanning of Virginia Tech, 2:08 with 800 to go. Your leader is Shappert of Wake, followed by Fanning of Virginia Tech. Hess of NC State is on the outside. 400 meters in 74 seconds.
4X100 m relay men– Heat 2 of 2: Florida State wins in a national best time of 38.78! Walter Dix with an incredible second leg. He had to be well under 10 seconds for that split. Clemson in second in 39.48, Wake Forest third in 40.29.
4X100 m relay men– Heat 1 of 2: Georgia Tech wins in 41.63, UNC second in 41.91, Maryland in third in 42.34.
A few of the storylines coming into today’s finals.
1. Can the Virginia women maintain their current position and finish in the top three?
2. With 5 finialists in the women’s 400 meters, how many points will the Florida State Seminoles score and will it propel them into first place?
3. With 17 finalists in the today’s finals, who has a chance to keep up with the Florida State men?
4. And finally, How fast will Walter Dix run in today’s 200 meter final? The Florida State junior ran 20.30 in the prelims and looked to be cruising his last 50 meters or so.
