What is your favorite food that you rarely eat?
Pretty much anything unprocessed. My roommate and I eat out an awful lot, or we eat stuff out of a box. Sometimes my mom sends me dinner in the mail, which means that the healthiest meals I actually eat come in a taped up shoebox.

Most people would be surprised that I…
I am an equipment klepto. In addition to the gear provided to me at the beginning of the season, I have half a dozen more visors, and under armour shirts. Whenever someone leaves something at the field I just sharpie my number into it and no one is the wiser. Except that my teammates found out. Now I just have to be more secretive.

What sport would you play if you didn’t play softball and why?
Tennis. Tennis requires fewer people to go play, and it’s such a smooth, finesse game – unlike softball, which for me is mostly mechanical. And you can play tennis when you’re 20 or 50. There aren’t a lot of old ladies fast pitch softball teams.

If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
I’d give my day to some kid who can’t get out of bed. I feel like I’m in a situation where I have a ton of opportunities, I’d give a day to someone who doesn’t have a lot of opportunities.

What class would you like to teach?
I’d like to teach a class on Useful Adult Knowledge. Not that I know much yet, but I know I’ve crammed a lot of information in my brain that I will never need. I can see that a lot of the people I meet have a great deal of common sense knowledge. Even if I could just organize some type of forum, where everyday people share their perspectives on what is important, I think that listening to the way other people think is interesting and valuable.

What is your greatest fear?
That the path I am on doesn’t continue to bring happiness. And doors in hotel rooms, but that is a result of the prank wars. I won’t name anyone specifically to protect the identities of the guilty.

If you could have any superpower it would be…
The ability to fly or the ability to heal. When I was little I wanted to be an astronaut or a doctor, because I thought those jobs would almost give me those abilities.

What is your favorite holiday and why?
Martin Luther King’s Birthday – my parents are divorced, so major holidays are sometimes more stressful than celebratory. I like MLK’s birthday specifically because my Dad has decided that everyone’s birthday deserves cake. So now my Dad buys a Martin Luther King Birthday cake too.

What is your favorite character from a book?
The little sister from My Sister’s Keeper. The book is about the relationship of two sisters. The older sister has leukemia, the younger sister was genetically altered to be her sister’s match. My favorite person is my younger sister, Kristi. The strength and spunk of the girl in the book reminds me of my sister.

What is the most embarrassing song on your ipod?
The song that I make most embarrassing is A Whole New World, from Aladdin. It is in my duet playlist and I always volunteer to take Aladdin’s part. Soprano I am not.

What is your most prized possession?
Everyone is putting friendships and family which is an obvious number 1 (but is boring). The thing I couldn’t do without is a car. I am so anal about time and being productive, I remember how it drove me insane first year not having a car. My car allows me to put myself in situations I want to be in, and easily extract myself from those that I don’t.I also treasure Kitty, my childhood bedtime stuffed animal. I lent her to Elea for 1 week after Elea lost her cat. Other than that, I won’t bring Kitty to school because her arms (legs?) aren’t on so strong anymore.

I hate shopping for…
Specific events. Inevitably, I don’t have appropriate attire for banquets and I will put off shopping until the last possible moment. This usually leads to frustration because I am only a good shopper if I start out strong. If the first thing I try on looks strange, the whole experience is going to feel very long and will not go well. As I think about it, I also like to start out my seasons hitting strong… maybe this is a character flaw.

I would buy a ticket to go see…
Ellen – perform stand-up or her show
President Clinton
Billy Graham
My friends who aren’t at UVA

My dream job would be…
Seriously, I’d love to open up a business with my friend Jackie. We talk about it sometimes but she’s so pragmatic I don’t know if we’ll be able to come up with a foolproof idea. I’d go into any type of business with her. I mean come on, we will both have graduated from the Comm School. (I hope my sarcasm conveys well on this survey)
Not quite as seriously, I would like to work with Ellen on her tv show. I like her sense of humor and what I perceive to be her view on life. And I do need an excuse to work on my dancing…

What do you love most about UVa and why
UVA seems to be exactly what you want it to be. I know people who get the typical college experience here, I know people who came to become prepared for successful careers and people everywhere in between. UVA creates opportunities: for relationships, for experiences, and for learning. I am going to graduate with a great job in an industry I am very interested in, with great friendships – esspecially the ones I have formed on the team and from my first year hall. UVA has been hard work, at least for me, but how many people can say that they don’t feel limited? That’s what UVA gives me, limitless opportunities to keep moving forward.
