NCAA Tennis Tournament Selection Show Set for Tuesday

CHARLOTTESVILLE – The field of 64 for both the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships will be announced on Tuesday, May 1. Both brackets will be unveiled live on ESPNews beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Fans in the Charlottesville area are invited to watch the show with the Cavaliers at the Boar’s Head Sports Club. The team will be watching the announcement in the lobby of the stadium entrance to the club. Also taking place on Tuesday at the club is the Boyd Tinsley $50K USTA Women’s Pro Tennis Championship.

The Cavalier men (26-3) will be making their fourth consecutive appearance in the tournament. Virginia earned the Atlantic Coast Conference’s automatic bid by winning the ACC Tournament. In each of the past two seasons, the Cavaliers have reached the quarterfinals.

The Cavalier women (11-11) will be looking for their second consecutive bid. Last season, Virginia downed Alabama in the first round before falling to Duke.

The NCAA Tournament will begin on Friday, May 11 at regional sites. Regional winners will advance to the nationals to be held May 17-28 in Athens, Ga.
