NCAA Tennis Regional Begins Friday at Snyder Tennis Center

CHARLOTTESVILLE – The NCAA Men’s Tennis Regional at the Snyder Tennis Center begins Friday with a pair of first round matches. Virginia will meet Hampton in the first match of the day at 10 a.m. with Old Dominion and Virginia Tech to meet at 1 p.m. The winners will meet in a second round match on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Cavaliers (26-3) are the tournament’s No. 4 seed and are hosting a regional for the fourth consecutive season. Virginia and Baylor are the only two teams in the nation to be a top eight national seed in each of the past four seasons. The Cavaliers enter the tournament on a 12-match winning streak after an undefeated campaign in the ACC and winning the conference tournament last month.

Hampton (15-8) is making its first NCAA appearance since 2003. The Pirates are the champions of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, topping Florida A&M in the final of the MEAC Tournament.

Old Dominion (21-7) is making its first ever NCAA Tournament appearance. The Monarchs earned an at-large selection to the field with a No. 31 national ranking and a second place finish in the CAA.

Virginia Tech (13-12) is making its first NCAA appearance since 2002. The Hokies are ranked No. 39 nationally and reached the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament last month.

10:00 a.m. Virginia (26-3) vs. Hampton (15-8)
