Charlottesville, Va. – Ben Rubeor is one of five finalists for the Tewaaraton Trophy, given annually to the top lacrosse player in the nation.

A junior from Towson, Md., he is one of the team captains and earned All-ACC honors for the second consecutive season this year. He has been instrumental in his team’s 12-3 record this season and is among the national leaders in scoring with 68 points and goals with 46.

His 46 goals this season are fourth in school history, while his 68 points rank ninth.

The other finalists are Duke attackman Matt Danowski, Johns Hopkins midfielder Paul Rabil, attackman Frank Resetarits of Albany and midfielder Max Seibald from Cornell.

Virginia is the only school to have two different players win the Tewaaraton Trophy. Matt Ward won the award after leading Virginia to a national championship last season, while midfielder Chris Rotelli won it as a senior in 2003 after leading UVa to the national championship.

The Cavaliers host Delaware in the first round of the NCAA Championships Sunday at 5 p.m.
