Virginia to Host Wisconsin in ACC-Big Ten Challenge

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Virginia women’s basketball team will host Wisconsin in the first annual ACC-Big Ten Women’s Basketball Challenge, the conferences announced jointly on Monday.

The Cavaliers and Badgers will meet at John Paul Jones Arena on Friday, Nov. 30. Tip-off time, as well as television and broadband coverage, will be announced at a later date.

“The Atlantic Coast Conference is pleased to be part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge for women’s basketball,” said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. “To be able to showcase our women’s basketball teams in premier competition with the Big Ten Conference in a great event like this will create excitement and enthusiasm with our participating teams and their fans.”

Virginia ended its 2007 at Wisconsin with a 84-78 loss in the WNIT quarterfinals.

The Virginia Cavaliers embark upon an international tour next week. UVa will visit Senegal and the Canary Islands during a 10-day exhibition tour. Updates and photos will be posted daily on the VirginiaSports.com website.
