CHARLOTTESVILLE – The women’s Under-23 National Rowing Team selection camp for the eight and the quad crews will be held at the University of Virginia from June 4-19.

Virginia women’s head rowing coach Kevin Sauer will coach at the camp along with Dave O’Neill of California and Melanie Onufrieff of Columbia.

Jennifer Cromwell (Bellevue, Wash.), a member of Virginia’s varsity eight crew as a freshman this spring, is one of 25-30 rowers expected to attend the camp and train on the Rivanna Reservoir.

This year’s U-23 World Championships are scheduled for July 26-29 in Strathclyde, Scotland. The United States’ women’s eight won a gold medal at last summer’s U-23 World Championships.

Two other freshmen members of the 2007 UVa women’s rowing team, Lauren Hutchins (North Vancouver, Canada) and Emelia Colman-Shepherd (Port Moody, B.C., Canada), are scheduled to attend the Canadian U-23 selection camp in London, Ontario. Hutchins was a member of Virginia’s varsity eight crew at last month’s NCAA Women’s Rowing Championships and Colman-Shepherd was a member of the second varsity eight.
