Charlottesville, Va. – Six Virginia men’s lacrosse players have been named to the 2007 All-ACC Academic Men’s Lacrosse team announced Monday afternoon by ACC Commissioner John D. Swofford.
Duke led the way with 15 players, followed by Virginia with six, Maryland with five and North Carolina with four.
Ben Rubeor, a first-team All-ACC selection for his on-field performance leads four Cavaliers as repeat selections from a year ago. Joining him are May graduates Adam Fassnacht and Drew Thompson, as well as sophomore Steve Giannone.
Junior defenseman Tim Shaw and sophomore longstick midfielder Mike Timms were honored for the first time.
Rubeor and Duke’s Nick O’Hara are the only players named to both the All-ACC and All-ACC Academic teams this season.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his/her academic career.
