Three Cavaliers Named to All-ACC Academic Women’s Lacrosse Team

Greensboro – Three Virginia women’s lacrosse student-athletes were recognized by the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) for excellence on the field and in the classroom with inclusion on the All-ACC Academic Women’s Lacrosse Team, as announced by the conference. Claire Bordley, Megan Havrilla, and Jess Wasilewski were all honored for the first time by the conference.

Bordley, a defender for the Cavaliers who started all 23 games, ranked third on the team with 34 ground balls and fourth in both draw controls (34) and caused turnovers (12). A government major, she was an integral part of the Virginia defense that ranked fifth nationally in scoring defense.

Havrilla also started all 23 games and ranked fifth on the team in scoring with 28 goals and 18 assists for 46 points, all career highs. She was named to the ACC All-Tournament team after helping Virginia win its second consecutive ACC title in April. Havrilla took her degree in economics in May.

Wasilewski was a consensus second-team All-American and earned All-ACC honors along with this All-Academic designation. The Philly native scored the game-winning goal in the NCAA semifinals, capping a 10-0 run to vault Virginia to the victory after being down 13-4 with 20 minutes to play in the game. A sociology major, Wasilewski took her degree in May.

The Cavaliers won a school-record 19 games en route to a 19-4 record that included the ACC title and a return trip to the NCAA final game, the fourth such trip in the last five years for Virginia.
