CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Four Virginia student-athletes were named to the 2007 ACC All-Academic Baseball Team, announced Monday by the conference office. Andrew Carraway (Marietta, Ga.), Neal Davis (Baltimore, Md.), Brandon Marsh (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Mike Mitchell (Chesapeake, Va.) all were selected for the award.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
Carraway was named to the team for the second-consecutive season. He posted a 5-0 record in 2007 with a 3.60 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 45 innings.
Davis went 2-1 this season with a 5.40 ERA in 13 games, including three starts.
Marsh hit .294 in 58 games this season. He hit three home runs and knocked in 44 runs and also stole 14 bases. He graduated in May with a degree in commerce.
Mitchell batted .299 this year and stole 19 bases in 21 attempts. He graduated with a degree in sociology in May, and after the season he was drafted in the 25th round (762nd overall) by the Colorado Rockies. He currently is playing for the Class-A Tri-City Dust Devils in the Northwest League.
