RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil – For the second consecutive day, Virginia alumna rower Margaret Matia (`05) won a medal at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Matia and teammates Sarah Trowbridge, Reilly Dampeer, and Julie Nichols captured the silver medal in the women’s quadruple sculls on Thursday morning.
Canada won the event in 7:42.62, just edging out the Americans who finished in 7:43.17. Argentina won bronze in 7:50.29. Cuba finished fourth (7:58.11), while Brazil was fifth (8:15.81).
The quadruple sculls race was the last women’s rowing event at the Pan Am Games.
