The football team dons shoulder pads for the first time during training camp on Wednesday. Preparations look to be relatively quiet football-wise due to summer school exams taking place over the next two days. The team is slated to practice Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for approximately 75 minutes.
“Wednesday morning and afternoon are exam periods and we would not practice then,” said head coach Al Groh. “We’ll practice a minimal amount of time Wednesday night to allow those players who have exams Thursday morning and afternoon sufficient time to prepare.”
Notes:
LB Clint Sintim has come to camp in the best shape of his career and the head coach has noticed. “He’s done a great job with his training in the offseason,” said Groh. “He’s really lean. His body has changed significantly from when he came in here. He is a lot sleeker and his body fat is way down. He appears to be coming into his peak physically.”
Summer school exams conclude Thursday afternoon and the team will practice that evening. This is the final practice in helmet and shoulder pads before the team puts on the full gear Friday.
Friday’s practice begins at 2:30 p.m. and is open to the public. Practice is held at the practice fields behind the McCue Center.
The team practices twice on Saturday–8:45 a.m. and 6:45 p.m.
Sunday is the team’s annual Meet the Team Event at Scott Stadium from 3-4:15 p.m.
