The Cavalier women’s soccer team is in California for this weekend’s Santa Clara/adidas Classic. Before the team took on Stanford on Friday, junior goalkeeper Celeste Miles answered a few questions about the team’s trip.

Q: This is the longest road trip of the season for the Cavaliers. How did you spend the five-hour flight from Dulles to San Francisco?

CM: I started off by doing some homework to try to stay ahead on my school work. I fell asleep for a little while and then when I woke up, I did some Sudoku.

Q: On Thursday, the team had a couple of hours to explore the Fisherman’s Wharf area of San Francisco. What were some of the things you did and saw?

CM: We walked around the area, saw some break dancers and some other street performers. We looked around the stores and the stands on the sidewalks.

Q: Did you buy anything?

CM: I was just a looker.

Q: What were some of the things your teammates bought?

CM: They bought some rings, some hats. Salt water taffy was a popular purchase. Hot chocolate because it was kind of cold. And Kristin Bowers bought some shoes.

Q: When you are getting set to head out on a road trip, what do you always make sure you bring?

CM: The IPod is a must have.

Q: What is the latest song/album you added to your IPod?

CM: Probably our new warm-up mix.

Q: Is that the same mix we have listening to in the van driving around for the past two days?

CM: No. That is another recent mix that I made.

Q: Is mix-master one of your duties on the team?

CM: I actually have taken on that role, along with Alex Singer. We have together joined forces to put together the music.

Q: This weekend you play Stanford and Santa Clara. What are your thoughts on those games?

CM: I think it is exciting that we get to play two such high-quality teams. It gives us a chance to play teams with maybe a different style than we are used to seeing. It is a great opportunity for us and I am looking forward to the games.
