CHARLOTTESVILLE Three members of the Virginia women’s soccer team were honored Thursday as Soccer America announced its national awards. Junior defender Nikki Krzysik (Clifton, N.J.) was named to the Soccer America MVP second-team, while goalkeeper Chantel Jones and midfielder Sinead Farrelly (Havertown, Pa.) were named to the All-Freshman first-team.

Krzysik, a first-team NSCAA All-American, had three goals and four assists offensively while anchoring a Virginia defense that led the nation in goals against average (0.40) and set a school record with 15 shutouts.

Jones ranked second nationally in goals against average while tying the school record with 13 shutouts on the season. She was a second-team All-ACC selection and was named third-team All-Mid Atlantic Region. Farrelly had five goals and four assists while being named first-team All-ACC.

The Cavaliers concluded the season with a 13-4-6 record after falling to top-ranked UCLA 2-1 in overtime in the NCAA round of 16. All three players are among 21 players on this season’s roster with eligibility remaining for next year.
