West End, NCVirginia men’s golf signee Ben Kohles has been named the male 2007 Carolinas Junior Player of the Year by the Carolinas Golf Association.
Kohles, a 17-year old high school senior from Cary, N.C., captured the 2007 boys’ player of the year award by winning the Dogwood State Junior and the Fall Invitational, tying for seventh in the Carolinas Boys’ Championship and finishing tied for eighth in the Charles Tilghman Junior.
The All-Carolinas Junior Player of the Year award is based upon a nine week, 11-event series of junior tournaments run by six associations that are the grassroots of junior golf in the Carolinas. The three leading points recipients in each division (boys and girls) will be invited to the Carolinas Golf Association’s Annual Meeting and Golf Night on February 15, 2008 at the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst, NC where the Players of the Year and All-Carolinas Junior Team will be recognized.
