Marino and Driscoll Have Impressive Showings at Sony Open

Former Virginia golfers Steve Marino and James Driscoll had impressive showings at last weekend’s Sony Open in Honolulu, Hawaii. The former Cavaliers both turned in top-20 finishes in the second Tour event of the season. This marks the first year two former UVa golfers have competed on the PGA Tour in the same season.

Marino tied for fourth overall with a score of 8-under 272. He had rounds of 65, 67, 68 and 72. It was Marino’s fifth top-10 finish in the last two years on the Tour. His finished earned him $208,688. Last season Marino had winnings of $1,179,165 on the Tour.

Driscoll was 20th at the Sony Open at 4-under 276. He carded rounds of 66, 69, 73 and 68. He earned $59,572 for his finish.

K.J. Choi took top honors at the tournament with a score of 14-under 266.

Marino will compete in this week’s Bob Hope Chrysler Classic Jan. 16-20 in Palm Desert, CA
