CLEMSON, S.C. Virginia assistant women’s soccer coach Hershey Strosberg was named the head women’s soccer coach at Clemson on Monday. Strosberg had served on Steve Swanson’s staff at Virginia for the past seven seasons.

“On behalf of the entire Virginia Soccer family we want to wish Hershey the best of luck as he begins a new chapter in his coaching career,” said Swanson. “He has served Virginia enthusiastically over the past seven years and has been an integral part of any success our program has had both on and off the field during that time. His spirit, passion for the game and his ability to relate to the players are just some of the positive attributes he will bring to his new position at Clemson. We are excited for him and the opportunity he has in front of him.”

During his seven seasons as an assistant coach at Virginia, the Cavaliers had one of the most successful periods in school history. The team posted a 102-37-19 record, won the school’s first ACC Championship, and finished in the top ten nationally five times. Strosberg has taken on a number of responsibilities for the Cavaliers during his time as assistant but most recently has served as the recruiting coordinator.

Strosberg takes over the Tiger program after Todd Bramble was named the head coach at Alabama, after seven seasons at Clemson.

Swanson will immediately begin the search to fill the vacancy on the Cavalier coaching staff.
