Virginia Picked Seventh in ACC Preseason Poll

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Virginia was picked to finish seventh in the coaches preseason poll, released Tuesday by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The Cavaliers return 10 letterwinners from the 2007 squad and welcome eight newcomers to the roster. Last season, Virginia posted an overall record of 17-39 and went 1-20 in league play.

Virginia Tech, the 2007 regular-season and tournament champion, was picked to win the conference. The Hokies garnered 62 points, including six first-place votes. North Carolina was picked second followed by Florida State and Georgia Tech, who tied for third.

Virginia begins the season Feb. 15 at the Kajikawa Classic hosted by Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz.
