What does The Power of Orange Mean to You?

The “Power of Orange” reminds me of my home away from home while stationed here in Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The color blue reminds me of the beautiful mountains I cycled over for hours on end, sometimes skipping classes. The orange reminds me of the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Now that I have the UVA flag (donated by Barry Parkhill) hanging alongside the VT flag at the Camp Arifjan, Kuwait dining facility it means even more to me than before. It is a beacon for my return to the Blue Ridge Mountains and orange sunrises and sunsets. Let’s make our wave of orange drown out Southern Cal August 30th. “The Power of Orange” means that you get goose bumps just thinking of Virginia Football. It means going out and getting a Virginia tattoo just for football season and seeing your blood run orange and blue. UVA go hoos go. Justin Holmes, Asheville, NC

I believe “The Power of Orange” begins when the talented UVA band struts out on the field, Cavman eliminates the opponent, the real Cavman and horse come out thru the tunnel and then the kickoff starts more excitement than my heart can hardly stand.
