+ Practice Courts
The Virginia men’s and women’s basketball programs each have one and a half private practice courts available for their use on the event level of the John Paul Jones Arena. The courts enable the teams and individual players to practice even when there are other events scheduled in the arena. Players have 24-hour, 365-day a year access to the courts. Both practice court complexes feature an in-house scoreboard, a video platform wired to the coaches offices and storage areas. The practice courts are located just off the locker rooms and down a flight of stairs from the coaches’ office complexes. Coaches can access the courts without entering public areas of the arena. An athletic training room staffed by professional personnel and featuring the latest in preventive and rehabilitative equipment is located between the two complexes and provides convenient and immediate medical support during practices. The men’s basketball practice court is named the Barry Parkhill Court in recognition of the many contributions to Virginia athletics made by the Cavaliers’ former basketball great.
+ Dining Hall
The dining facility in the John Paul Jones Arena is available for all of Virginia’s student-athletes. The facility has a serving and dining area of more than 7,900-square feet with a seating capacity of 325. There is an additional 2,100-square feet of kitchen space.
