CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. Danny Glading and Mike Timms are among 30 Division I senior lacrosse players announced as candidates for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages those leaders to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact on their circle of influence.

Glading is a four-year starter on attack for the Cavaliers and was named the preseason Player of the Year by Lacrosse magazine. He has ranked in the top 10 in the ACC in scoring, goals and assists in each of his first three years. Last season he earned second-team All-America honors and was named to the All-ACC Academic men’s lacrosse team as well as to the ACC Honor Roll. An economics major, he leads the team this season with 12 assists and is second with 22 points.

Timms is one of the nation’s best long stick midfielders and does a tremendous job of shutting down his opponent. A two-time All-American, he has started all four years. He leads the team this season with 10 caused turnovers, while snaring 16 ground balls. He received his degree in economics last May and is currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in the McIntire School of Commerce. He was named to the All-ACC Academic men’s lacrosse team in 2007 and 2008 and to the ACC Honor Roll four times.

The list of 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will then be placed on the official ballot. The award winner will be announced and presented with his trophy at the final four of this year’s NCAA Championship in Foxborough, Mass.
