Cavalier Fans Invited To Watch NCAA Women’s Selection Show At Bryant Hall Monday

CHARLOTTESVILLE The Virginia athletics department invites all Cavalier fans to Bryant Hall on Monday, March 16, to watch the 2009 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament Selection Show. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and admission is free. Join the team and be a part of finding out where and when UVa will participate in this year’s NCAA Championship.

The selection show begins at 7 p.m. on ESPN and will last approximately an hour. Brackets will be available for fans to fill out as it is announced live.

Virginia (23-9) is ranked No. 23/25 in the national polls and advanced to the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament last weekend.

First-round play in the 2008 championship will begin on March 21 in Albuquerque, N.M.; Chattanooga, Tenn., Columbus, Ohio, Duluth, Ga., Los Angeles, Calif., Piscataway, N.J., San Diego, Calif. and Seattle, Wash. On March 22, action will begin at Baton Rouge, La., Bowling Green, Ky., College Park, Md., East Lansing, Mich., Iowa City, Iowa, Lubbock, Texas, Notre Dame, Ind. and Storrs, Conn.

Following second-round play at each of these sites, on March 23 and 24, regional play will commence on March 28-30 with the Berkeley Regional and the Raleigh Regional, while the Oklahoma City and the Trenton Regionals will be played on March 29-31.

The 2009 Women’s Final Four will be played April 5 and 7 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo.
