Cavaliers Host Clemson and Georgia Tech This Weekend

CHARLOTTESVILLE — The top ranked Virginia men’s tennis team returns home this weekend as it hosts a pair of ACC foes at the Snyder Tennis Center. The Cavaliers welcome Clemson on Friday at 2 p.m. and Georgia Tech Sunday at noon.

The Cavaliers (18-0, 3-0 ACC) are coming off a pair of a 4-3 win at No. 10 Texas last week in their non-conference finale. Virginia is No. 1 in this week’s ITA team rankings and has five singles players and two doubles teams ranked in the latest ITA individual rankings. In singles, Dominic Inglot (London, England) is No. 15, Michael Shabaz (Fairfax, Va.) is No. 18, Sanam Singh (Chandigarh, India) is No. 23, Houston Barrick (Brentwood, Tenn.) is No. 69, and Lee Singer (Laguna Niguel, Calif,) is No. 83. The doubles team of Barrick and Singh are No. 4, while Inglot and Shabaz are No. 13.

The Tigers enter Friday’s match with an 8-6 record (0-3 ACC). The Yellow Jackets are ranked No. 62 nationally and enter the weekend with a record of 6-6 (1-2 ACC). Georgia Tech is led by Guillermo Gomez, the nation’s No. 12 ranked player.

Admission to all men’s and women’s tennis matches is free.
