UVa Golfers Look to Extend Hot Play at Schenkel Invitational

Charlottesville, VA The Virginia men’s golf team, fresh off a highly successful Spring Break swing through Florida, returns to play this weekend at Georgia Southern’s Schenkel E-Z Go Invitational. The three-day, 54-hole event takes place at the par-72, 6,962-yard Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga.

Virginia is joined in the 18-team field by Auburn, Augusta State, No. 5 Florida, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Iowa, Kentucky, No. 20 LSU, No. 25 Mississippi, North Carolina, No. 24 NC State, North Florida, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, No. 12 South Carolina, No. 21 Tennessee and Vanderbilt. Alabama won last year’s tournament at 15-under 849.

Virgina’s lineup features Will Collins, Conrad Von Borsig, Kyle Stough, Steven Rojas and Ben Kohles. Collins guided UVa with back-to-back top-five finishes during the team’s two tournaments in Florida. He led the Cavaliers to the team championship at the Argonaut Invitational by placing fourth at 3-under 213. He followed that up with a fourth-place showing at the Seminole Invitational where UVa was second overall.

Virginia tees off at 10:30 a.m. Friday and is paired with Augusta State and Kentucky. Saturday those same teams start the second round at 8:51 a.m. The final round, based on standings, will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
