Statesboro, GA Despite turning in a better score during the second round of play, the Virginia men’s golf team remained in 11th place after 36 holes of play at the Schenkel E-Z Go Invitational. The Cavaliers shot 6-over 294 and enter Sunday’s final round at 14-over 590. South Carolina and Florida share the overall lead at 579 in the 18-team field. The tournament is taking place at the Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga.
Will Collins continues to lead the UVa contingent, shooting 1-over 73 Saturday to stand 11th overall at even par 144. Conrad Von Borsig carded a 74 to drop back to 34th overall at 3-over 147. Kyle Stough is 48th at 149 after finishing with a 75 during the second round. Ben Kohles posted a 74 Saturday and is 70th at 152. Steven Rojas equaled Collins low team score with a 73 to move up to 87th overall at 155.
A trio of players are tied at the stop of the leaderboard in stroke play. Augusta State’s Taylor Floyd, NC State’s Matt Hill and Florida’s Tim McKenney are all at 4-under 140.
