Columbia, Mo. – The Missouri track and field teams swept the second annual Virginia-Missouri Jefferson Dual on Saturday afternoon. The Mizzou men, who won the inaugural competition a year ago, secured a 107-93 victory this season, while Missouri’s women claimed their first victory by a score of 105-95.

Virginia combined for eight first-place finishes, led by senior All-American Yemi Ayeni’s school record in the shot put. Ayeni threw 59’ 9.75” to break his own record and earn the victory.

Three Cavaliers also won events with NCAA Regional qualifying marks, including sophomore All-American Meikle Paschal and junior Ayla Smith’s meet record performances. Paschal ran 46.99 in the 400m, while Smith ran 13.79 in the 100m hurdles. Freshman Morgane Gay won the mile in 4:48.63.

The Cavaliers also picked up a pair of victories in the 100m dashes. Sophomore Kisha Garrick won the women’s race in 12.09 and senior Rainer Fiala won the men’s competition with a time of 10.96.

Senior Lauretta Dezubay won the 3000m in 10:02.41.

In field events, sophomore Marcus Robinson won the long jump with a leap of 22’ 11”.

The Cavaliers return home next weekend to host the annual Lou Onesty/Milton Abramson Invitational. Events will begin on Friday and conclude Saturday.
