Wallace, NC The Virginia men’s golf team is tied for ninth place after 36 holes of play at NC State’s River Landing Intercollegiate. The Cavaliers posted rounds of 293 and 301 to finish the first day of play at 18-over 594. The host Wolfpack lead the 15-team field by seven shots at 563. Duke is second at 570.
Virginia was led by Bruce Woodall who posted rounds of 72 and 73 to stand 20th overall at 145. Ben Kohles is 41st at 149 after shooting 72 and 77. Conrad Von Borsig had rounds of 76 and 74 to place 46th at 150. Kyle Stough stands 52nd after carding a 73 and 78 for a total of 151. Will Collins shot 76 and 77 to finish 60th at 153. Amory Davis, playing as a non-scoring individual, is in 57th place. He posted back-to-back scores of 76.
NC State’s Matt Hill has a one shot lead heading into Saturday’s final round at 6-under 138.
