Cavaliers Wrap Up Regular Season Road Schedule at George Mason

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 10 Virginia women’s lacrosse team concludes the road portion of its regular season schedule with a trip to Fairfax, Va., on Tuesday to face its sixth in-state opponent this season, George Mason. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m., with live stats available on VirginiaSports.com.

The Cavaliers, coming off a weeks rest, bring a 9-5 overall record into the contest. Senior Ashley McCulloch leads the attack with 55 points on 28 goals and a team-high 27 assists, while senior Blair Weymouth is close behind with 52 points on a team-high 40 goals and 12 helpers.

Junior Kaitlin Duff leads the midfield with 32 ground balls and 36 caused turnovers, while classmate Brittany Kalkstein anchors the team by winning 55 draw controls.

George Mason (5-7) has lost its last three games, but all by one goal. The Patriots fell to William & Mary, 17-16, most recently and to both Old Dominion and Hofstra, 12-11.

Three Patriots have hit the 25-goal mark, led by Madalyn Jamison’s 26 goals and followed closely by Brittany Berger and Megan Udovich with 25 each. Berger leads the team with 31 draw controls, while Maggie Bridges paces the defense with 20 caused turnovers and 47 ground balls.

In goal, Sara Longobucco has played every minute, stopping .437 percent of shots faced, while allowing 12.03 goals per game.

The Cavaliers lead the all-time series, dating back to 1999, winning all 10 contests.

Virginia will return home to conclude its regular season on Sunday, hosting Northwestern at noon. The Cavaliers’ nine seniors Catherine Chambers, Sarah Hackman, Whitaker Hagerman, Sara Hairfield, Jenny Hauser, Jen Holden, Ashley McCulloch, Katie Shannon and Blair Weymouth will all be recognized prior to the start of the contest.
