More General Admission Seats Added at Davenport Field
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia Department of Athletics has added more General Admission seats at Davenport Field. The additional 249 seats will be located behind the right-field wall and will be available starting with the home series against Miami (May 13-15).
The stadium’s seating capacity will increase to 5,074 starting May 13.
“I have dreamed of the day our fan support would be at a level that would demand our stadium to accommodate over 5,000 fans,” Virginia head coach Brian O’Connor said. “Because of the overwhelming support of our fans, this day has arrived. Our players are having a tremendous season, they appreciate the support of our fans, and we need our fans to pack Davenport Field for our remaining four regular-season games.
“Our fans now have the opportunity to once again break the single-game, three-game series, and single-season attendance records. I want to encourage them to get their tickets early so they can continue to make our stadium one of the best environments in college baseball.”
With a No. 1 ranking and national-best 43-5 record this year, Virginia currently is on pace to eclipse its regular-season attendance record of 93,040, set last year. UVa ranks 16th nationally in total attendance this year at 82,630 and 23rd in average attendance with 2,849 fans per game. The UVa three-game series attendance record of 13,249 was set last season against North Carolina and the single-game record of 4,825 was set May 14, 2010, against the Tar Heels.
Tickets are on sale now for the Miami series (May 13-15) as well as the Tuesday, May 17 game against High Point. Between 1,800-2,300 tickets remain for each game against Miami. Ticket books for potential NCAA Regional and Super Regional games also are on sale.
Tickets may be ordered online at VirginiaSports.com, in person at the Virginia Athletics Ticket Office in Bryant Hall at Scott Stadium or by phone at (800) 542-UVA1.
