Charlottesville, VA – Virginia junior men’s golfer Ben Kohles (Cary, N.C.) has been named a third-team selection to the 2011 PING All-America team the Golf Coaches Association of America announced today. Kohles had previously been named an honorable mention All-American by Golfweek and was named to the GCAA All-East Region team.

Kohles led UVa with a 71.92 stroke average this year. He won two tournaments and was UVa’s top scorer in seven events. Kohles shot par or better during 21 of his 38 rounds this year. An All-ACC selection, he was named the league’s Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Kohles becomes the fourth Virginia player to earn All-America honors in back-to-back season. Lewis Chitengwa did it in 1995 and 1996, James Driscoll repeated in 1997 and 1998 and Simon Cooke was a three-time All-American from 1994 to 1996.
