Charlottesville, Va. – Four members of the Virginia men’s golf team were named to the All-State team by the Virginia State Golf Coaches Association. Senior Ben Kohles and freshman Denny McCarthy were first-team selections while sophomore Ben Rusch and senior Bruce Woodall were second-team picks.Kohles (Cary, NC), the 2010 and 2011 ACC Player of the Year, earned second-team All-America honors from PING and Golfweek. He compiled a 71.23 stroke average for the season and finished in the top 15 nine times, including victories at the Palmetto Intercollegiate and Schenkel Invitational.

McCarthy (Rockville, MD), named ACC Freshman of the Year, was second for the Cavaliers in scoring with a 72.31 stroke average and posted five top-10 finishes, including fourth-place performances at the VCU Shootout and ACC Championship.

Rusch (Weinfelden, Switzerland) won the ACC individual title by shooting a career-best 10-under 206. He became the first Cavalier to claim the crown since 1955. He was an All-ACC selection and finished third on the team with a 72.88 stroke average.

Woodall (Eden, N.C.) was an ACC All-Academic selection in 2012. He led the Cavaliers at the NCAA Championships with a 37th-place finish. He was one of two UVa players to participate in all 12 tournaments during the season.

Kohles, Rusch and McCarthy were all named to the GCAA All-East Region team.
