GREENSBORO, N.C.—Virginia rowing’s Varsity Eight has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Crew of the Week for the second consecutive week, the conference announced Tuesday (April 8).

The crew consisted of senior coxswain Sarah Jordan (Flourtown, Pa.), Elle Murray (Sr., Tampa, Fla.), Constanze Duell (Sr., Oberschlesissheim, Germany), Chandler Lally (Jr., Bryn Mawr, Pa.), Georgia Ratcliff (Fr., Falls Church, Va.), Brandy Herald (Sr., Portland, Ore.), Fiona Schlesinger (Sr., Surrey, United Kingdom), Lizzy Youngling (Jr., Westport, Conn.) and Hemingway Benton (Jr., Glencoe, Ill.). The crew is undefeated this spring over nine different opponents.

The Cavaliers’ top boat defeated No. 7 Princeton and Columbia Saturday (April 5) on Lake Carnegie in Princeton, N.J. UVa finished in a time of 6:41.9, three seconds ahead of the Tigers (6:44.9) and over 27 seconds ahead of the Lions (7:09.7).

Last week, the Cavaliers’ V8 defeated crews from No. 4 USC, No. 11 Stanford and No. 20 Oregon State to earn ACC Crew of the Week honors.

Virginia returns to action April 19 for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Cavaliers will face defending national champion Ohio State and No. 9 Michigan.
