CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s lacrosse team continues ACC play on Friday when the Cavaliers (8-4, 1-3 ACC) return home to Klöckner Stadium to host the Duke Blue Devils (10-2, 3-1 ACC). Faceoff is set for 6 p.m. UVa is ranked No. 8 in the USILA coaches poll and is ranked No. 10 in the Warrior/Inside Lacrosse media poll. Duke is No. 2 in both the media and coaches poll.
Fans should be aware that large crowds are expected for the men’s lacrosse game and the baseball contest against Clemson, which also begins at 6 p.m. Free parking is available in the University Hall, John Paul Jones Arena and McCue Center lots, and the Emmet/Ivy Garage starting Friday at 4 p.m. Fans are encouraged to allow additional time to park before the start of the games.
ESPNU will televise the game in HD with Eamon McAnaney bringing the play-by-play and Paul Carcaterra adding color analysis. The game will be simulcast via a web stream on WatchESPN. Live stats of the game will be available at VirginiaSports.com. There will be a live radio broadcast locally in the Charlottesville area on WINA 1070 AM. Luke Neer will bring the play-by-play and Doug Tarring will provide the game analysis. A live audio webcast will be available for a subscription cost on VirginiaSports.com through Cavaliers Live.
Friday marks the 78th all-time meeting between the Cavaliers and the Blue Devils, a series in which the Cavaliers own a 49-28 advantage since 1938. The 49 victories equal the most UVa has against any opponent in program history (matches 49 victories against UNC), but the Blue Devils have won 13 of the last 14 meetings, including the last five. Virginia’s last win in the series was in the 2010 ACC Tournament and its last win at Klöckner Stadium was during the 2004 regular season, an 13-4 triumph.
Mark Cockerton leads UVa with 36 goals, while James Pannell is No. 2 on the team with 31 goals. Cockerton is No. 4 in the nation in goals scored and Pannell is No. 5. Cockerton leads UVa with 48 points, which ranks No. 8 nationally. Ryan Tucker rounds out the top goal scorers with 18 scores, while Owen Van Arsdale has a team-best 23 assists along with 33 points. Van Arsdale is also 10th nationally in assists. Mick Parks and Greg Danseglio lead UVa with 41 ground balls, while Tanner Scales has caused 16 turnovers. Matt Barrett is saving 47.7 percent of shots between the pipes and is posting a 11.07 goals against average.
Duke head coach John Danowski is in his eighth season at Duke and returns 33 letterwinners and seven starters off of last season’s NCAA Championship team that went 16-5. Jordan Wolf leads Duke and is No. 2 nationally with 37 goals. Wolf also leads Duke with 56 points. Deemer Class is second on the team with 43 points and a team-high 20 assists. Josh Dionne and Myles Jones round out the top goal scorers with 28 and 20 scores, respectively. Brendan Fowler is winning 61.6 percent (170-of-276) of his draws at the faceoff X. Luke Aaron is saving 56.2 percent of shots he has faced between the pipes and is posting an 8.34 goals against average.
UVa returns to action for Senior Day festivities at Klöckner Stadium on Saturday, April 19 when Bellarmine comes to town.

Reserved seats for men’s home games are on sale for $10. Single-game general admission adult tickets for men’s home games are $8, while youth (18 and under), seniors (60 and over), and UVa faculty and staff tickets are $6 each. General admission tickets for groups of 20 or more are priced at $4.
