Virginia's Varsity Eight Named ACC Crew of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C.–The Virginia rowing Varsity Eight was named the ACC Crew of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday (April 14).
The Cavalier crew, which consisted of coxswain Hayley LaFleche, Shawna Sims, Erin Briggs, Georgia Ratcliff, Eliza Spilsbury, Hemingway Benton, Lizzy Youngling, Sam Casto and Mackenzi Sherman, defeated No. 8 Princeton, No. 13 Harvard-Radcliffe and Cornell in a time of 6:54.5.
It is the third time Virginia has been honored in the conference weekly honors. The UVa Second Varsity Eight was recognized March 31, while the V8 was also honored March 17.
The No. 4 Cavaliers return to action this weekend (April 18-19) when they compete in the Clemson Invite on Lake Hartwell in Clemson, S.C.
