Varsity Four Places Second Among Collegiate Boats at Head of The Charles

BOSTON, Mass. – The Virginia rowing Varsity Four finished second among collegiate boats in the Championship Fours at the 51st Head of The Charles Sunday (Oct. 18).
In the Championship Fours, Virginia placed fourth overall and had the second-best collegiate time in 18:24.07. USRowing finished first in 17:33.79 followed by New York Athletic Club in 18:02.38. Brown was third in 18:05.23, while Virginia and Don Rowing rounded out the top five.
The UVA Varsity Eight boat saw its four-year winning streak as the top collegiate boat come to end with its third-place finish behind California and Brown in the Championship Eights. The Golden Bears won the race in 15:58.62 followed by Brown in 16:23.35 and Virginia in 16:24.17. Princeton and Yale rounded out the top five.
On Saturday, nine Cavalier alums placed sixth in the Women’s Alumni Eight as Michigan defended its title. The Wolverines had UVA assistant coach Brett Gorman in its two seat.
The Cavaliers continue their fall season at the Princeton Chase in Princeton, N.J., on Sunday, Nov. 1.
