SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador–Virginia rising senior Henry Wynne won the 1,500 meters for Team USA at the North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Under-23 Championships Friday evening (July 15) in San Salvador, El Salvador.

Wynne (Westport, Conn.) led each lap and finished first in the 1,500m a time of 3:51.81, 0.10 ahead of second place Mike Tate of Canada. It was Wynne’s first international experience of his career.

Wynne was named both the indoor and outdoor ACC Men’s Track Performer of the Year in 2016. During the indoor season, he won the NCAA title in the mile and captured two ACC championships (mile and distance medley relay). During the outdoor season, Wynne won the 1,500m at the ACC Championships and placed third in the event at the NCAA Championships.
