CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Sophomore cornerback Juan Thornhill has been named ACC Defensive Back of the Week for games played through Oct. 1. It is the first career weekly accolade for Thornhill.

Thornhill (So., Altavista, Va.) had two interceptions to help UVA to a 34-20 win at Duke. The victory ended a 17-game road losing streak for the Hoos and was UVA’s first win at Duke since 2006. He also had four tackles and broke up another pass. Thornhill was part of a defensive unit that forced six turnovers and tied the school record with five interceptions.
