CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- The Virginia men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will host NC State and North Carolina in weekend meets at the Aquatic and Fitness Center in Charlottesville, Va. The Cavaliers will host NC State on Friday (Jan. 19) and North Carolina on Saturday.

Diving will begin at 11 a.m. on both days as swimming events will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday and 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Admission to Virginia swimming and diving meets is free to the public. Public parking is available, on a first-come, first serve basis, at Slaughter Recreation Center and the parking lot closest to the West Gate at Scott Stadium.

Both competitions will be streamed on ACC Network Extra. Links to the broadcast and live results are available on VirginiaSports.com.

Friday will be a Sabre Rewards Event with Domino’s pizza offered to the first 300 students. On Saturday, the Cavaliers will recognize nine seniors before the start of the swim meet. A face painter and balloon artist will be available in the AFC lobby for Cavman’s Crew Day.

The Cavaliers are ranked eighth on the women’s side and 23rd on the men’s side, according to the latest release from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. NC State is ranked 15th in the women’s poll and sixth in the men’s poll, while the North Carolina women are ranked 21st.

Virginia enters the meet after splitting last weekend’s competition at Virginia Tech. The women’s team topped the Hokies, 189.5-163.5, to remain undefeated in dual meet matchups with their eighth win. The Cavalier men, 3-3, fell to Virginia Tech, 218-133.

The Wolfpack men enter the meet undefeated with four dual meet wins. The women’s team is 3-3, losing to Stanford, California and Texas.

North Carolina holds a record of 4-2 on the women’s side and 3-3 on the men’s side. The Tar Heels defeated Penn State and Navy last weekend, sweeping both programs.

Last year, Virginia swept North Carolina with the women’s team winning 173.5-121.5 and the men defeating the Tar Heels 170-130. The Cavaliers dropped both the men’s and women’s meet to NC State, falling 153-147 on the women’s side and 177-109 on the men’s side.
