Way Back Wednesday

We are flashing back in time on two different fronts with this blog post. With #UVAMBB and South Carolina slated to face one anther on Wednesday in Columbia, former Daily Progress Virginia beat writer Andrew Ramspacher takes an in-depth look at the last time the two schools met as ACC opponents on January 11, 1971. It was the turning point for both programs, with Virginia on its way up and South Carolina on its way out of the conference and out of prominence for many years. The story has first-hand accounts from the people who witnessed the game, including Barry Parkhill, who hit the game-winning shot. Ramspacher, an award-winning journalist and a fan-favorite during his time in Charlottesville, is now the beat writer for South Carolina men’s basketball for The State newspaper.
